Adaptive3D unveils new, more flexible 3D printing material
Royal DSM and Adaptive3D have announced a new partnership. The two companies will commercialise a new 3D printing material developed by Adaptive3D, a supplier of polymer resins for additive manufacturing. This photopolymer material, called Soft ToughRubber, is said to be the world's softest and is expected to be produced, distributed and sold by Royal DSM.

Soft ToughRubber is a new 3D printable photopolymer created by Adaptive3D that has a rather innovative feature: it changes its properties when exposed to light. It is expected to be used to 3D print medical models as well as consumer products such as audio headphones or shoes. The resin would offer the same mechanical properties as silicone but with the resolution and finish of DLP technology. Noud Steffens, director of market development at DSM, says: "This partnership allows us to combine DSM's global supply chain and strong relationships in key markets with Adaptive3D's material innovations."
