Key historical equipment redesigned with 3D printing for enhanced performance
Since 1879, Linde Gas has been offering a wide range of industrial gases and associated equipment and solutions to customers in all sectors of industry, food, science and research. Among the latter, Carbothan® is a technology that allows the injection of gases into heat treatment furnaces to create the atmosphere necessary for the production of good quality parts. This system is based on a lance that diffuses methanol and nitrogen. However, the high temperatures can in the long term generate impurities that can block the lance. A Linde expert therefore came up with an innovative design that would equip the lance with sensors capable of giving an immediate warning in the event of a malfunction. But what technology would make this possible?
