A 3D printer that changes its ink without interrupting its production

A 3D printer that changes its ink without interrupting its production
A 3D printer developed by Harvard researchers aims to speed up additive manufacturing. It has several extrusion heads that can change the printing material up to 50 times per second.

3D printing is slow, especially when multiple materials are required. This is because an extrusion head is needed for each printing ink. But that time may soon be over, considering the new machine developed by Harvard researchers. Called Multi-Material Multi-Nozzle 3D (MM3D), it has several extrusion heads that can change printing materials up to 50 times a second. That's the speed of a hummingbird's wings. "Combining a chain of multiple nozzles with the ability to change ink quickly eliminates the time-consuming process of changing printheads and allows 3D objects to be printed much faster,"
